Last cruises of the summer
The cruise ship Hanseatic is scheduled to stop in at Stornoway today, on her way south from Iceland as the season draws to a close. She’s a small five-star expedition ship with space for no more than 175 passengers, travelling in luxury. She’s due to be followed on Saturday by the last call of regular visitor the Hebridean Princess, also bringing a small group of travellers in style to the islands.

Booking closes for cattle sale
Booking closes today for next week’s sale of calves and cattle at Lewis and Harris Auction Mart. It’s a busy week for the Steinish mart next week, with the sale of breeding rams on Monday afternoon and the cattle sale starting at 10am on Tuesday.

Shinty season ends
Camanachd Leòdhais brought down the curtain on their season on Saturday with a trip to Battery Park to play Lochcarron. 16 Lewis players made the journey and both sides had chances on the day but the home side proved to be the more clinical of the two and came out on top with a score of 5-0. The island club’s focus will now switch to the Craig Morrison Sixes, which kicks off at 2pm on Saturday 14th October. All current and former players are invited to attend as well as anyone who fancies a game of shinty, regardless of experience.
